Caitlin, Jack M, Vaishnavi and Nicholas led our class in a discussion on Friday about ‘What makes success?”
We thought that success is when you:
- achieve a goal
- come 1st, 2nd, 3rd in a race
Then they asked us to think about who is successful? We came up with:
- John Key
- Justin Beiber
- Michael Jackson
- Sir Edmond Hilary
- Michael J Fox
- Jaedyn’s Uncle who is a helicopter pilot
This made us question do you have to be famous to be successful?
So we looked at these people and we looked at these things and Nicholas asked us “So what are the characteristics of a successful person?” (Fantastic question, I thought!). We came up with:
A successful person is someone who:
- Has a dream
- Sets goals
- Is persistent/shows persistence
- Shows courage
- Puts in a lot of effort and practice
- Shows spirit and determination
- Fails forward/learns from mistakes
This means we are going to test our criteria (hypothesis) over a range of people to either confirm our criteria or to add to it. We had our first visitor today.
