Welcome friends from Manchester!

Overnight we had quite a lot of traffic from ‘A Brookburn Primary School‘ in the UK. I wonder if we could all pay them a visit to say thanks for watching.

Overnight we had quite a lot of traffic from ‘A Brookburn Primary School‘ in the UK. I wonder if we could all pay them a visit to say thanks for watching.
As part of the Student Blogging Challenge we made a movie advertising our city so that Miss W will know what to do if she was to visit Palmerston North. What else could have we included?
It was also the first time I had used ‘green screening’. It was a bit of a challenge but we got there in the end.
Well done team, it looks awesome!
Over the weekend a few of us took some video about how we spent Earth Hour. This is part of the student blogging challenge for Earth Hour. Thank you to Alexandra, Kate and Saffron for providing your short movies. Check it out:
Can you see your name in one of these lists? Out of all of the people who completed Week 2 Student Blogging Challenge, some of The Teks got their name in the list of blogs to view! Our class blog even got a mention… ooosh! Click the photo to see more:
Also, if you click on the image on the right it will take you to Week Three of the Student Blogging Challenge. There are instructions in the post that will tell you what to do so if you want, you can have a go.
This week’s student Blogging Challenge was to create an avatar for our blog. Here is/are mine:
I want one of these hats but I don’t have one yet. My birthday is in November
This week some of us have been making videos about persuading people to come to our blog. It has been really fun! First we story boarded our ideas, then we shot our scenes, then we imported them into imovieHD where we added titles and transitions, exported them as a movie and uploaded them onto youtube – wow! Here are some finished movies:

This week we have been completing our first Student Blogging Challenge, which is to write a post persuading readers to come back (again and again) to visit your site. We’ve got three groups; video group, verbal (vocaroo) group and written (Keynote) group. Here is Taylor’s Keynote (written) and Sophie’s verbal (vocaroo):
Our first challenge to complete in Tek2011 is to write persuasively and try to ‘sell’ our ePortfolios to visitors. We have learnt that being persuasive is kind of like:
- bribing, advertising, encouraging, or trying to get someone to do something.
Your task is to create a post (written, verbal or video) that persuades your audience to keep visiting your blog/ePortfolio. Check out these blogs for some ideas:
Your post should also include information about yourself; your interests, your hobbies, what you do at school, or what you are like as a person. This is due on Thursday so if you need to work at home to complete this, what are you waiting for?!
You may have noticed a few changes made on our class blog? See if you can find them:
And a name change! Tek2011 (it’s just shortened, really). This is all in preparation of the March Student Blogging Challenge that is coming up. I am very excited! You also may have noticed Jill C Jill C\’s blog commenting on your ePortfolios. This is because she is our ‘blog mentor’ for the challenge. She will oversee our progress over 10 weeks. Can anyone find out where she is from? Correct comments will have their names in the prize bag.
