Science Reports WALT

In NIN as part of our Seed 2 Table program we have been doing every Friday, we have been working with a real scientist!  Kerry works for Plant and Food Research at Massey University and she has been walking us through some scientific investigations.  Some of the investigations include what  mould needs to grow…

Here is the WALT we used to write up our reports:

Seed 2 table by Emma L

Last week was our classroom first time doing seed 2 table!

In my group are Me, Samantha, Jack M, Annalise and Jaedyn.

We did science with Keary first. We look at making a science project about mold.

Then we did cooking. We make warn potato salad and honey pepper veg salad.
The beetroot made the potato pink! Funny.

Moon 20.05.11

This morning again I saw the moon!  I wonder why it is in different position in the sky? What evidence do we have that explains that? Here are the measurements for today:

Full Moon in the Morning

The moon can only be seen at night, right? Well, today in New Zealand we can begin to see the moon during the day. We will be observing it and measuring it from the horizon and the sun to see if we can see a pattern and thus be able to explain.  Awesome!  By the time I got to school this morning it had disappeared over the horizon.  I wonder what is going to happen next?

Moon Measurements

This term we are learning about day and night, seasons and the moon orbit. But we are not using books or the internet to research, we are collecting data ourselves to make meaning and model to others. So far this term we haven’t been able to see the moon and sun in the sky at the same time so I took this opportunity when I could… Enjoy!

Your table in your inquiry book should look like this:

As you are collecting your data ask yourself:

How does the shape of the moon change over time?

Why does the moon change over time?
