We are learning to put things in order. Here is a timeline showing what New Zealand use to look like and what it looks like now.

For reading we have been learning to sequence events.  Nic showed us this website called Time Toast where you can make a digital timeline.  We used our article on NZ timber to show the important events which took place from 1000AD to 2011.  Check out Kayleigh and Kaitlin’s almost finished time toast.

Let’s Write a Hook Together!

We read a story called Two Little Goldfish and it had lots of past tense in it.  We looked at all of the words and made a list of the present and past tense words.  Then we made a keynote showing some of them.

Here is a great ANZAC Website I found on the insandouts blog that you could have a look at before we get back to school. It has some amazing stories of what actually happened on that fateful day. My favourite part is the ANZAC Landing in 3D. What are some of your ANZAC stories?

As part of our homework, we wrote persuasive letters to the Minster of Education to ensure that school camps were essential for schools: Well done to those who completed the task – they sound very convincing!

In NIN as part of our Seed 2 Table program we have been doing every Friday, we have been working with a real scientist!  Kerry works for Plant and Food Research at Massey University and she has been walking us through some scientific investigations.  Some of the investigations include what  mould needs to grow…
