Creative writing: how to capture a moment
Did you know it snowed on Monday afternoon?! There was still snow on the ground on Tuesday morning and all of us had some fun playing in the snow! Did anyone hear teachable moment in that??
So we have been learning to use words that describe snow to write a creative piece of writing that captures a moment. We had a quick look at how to take a great photo. We learned about the macro button and the rule of thirds. Finally we are focusing on re-crafting our writing once we have finished our first craft, e.g. correcting spelling, grammar, punctuation, re-reading for sense and impact.
The final results are amazing! Click the images to read their pieces:

Free Writing: Being Angry

Being really really angry is an emotion and is totally normal! Most of the time you can take a deep breath and count to ten. Other times, something might happen and you lose it. Your task this week is to write about a time when you were angry.
What happened? Who was there? How did it happen? Why did you become angry? How did you get over it?

Free Writing: Who Am I?
For writing this week, you need to write 5 or 6 sentences that describe something about yourself, for example the colour of your eyes etc. Then finish your writing by asking “Who Am I?”
But do not leave your name because later on in the week we will try to guess who you are by reading the information you wrote. I wonder how tricky you can be? Think about what information is important to give and to hold.
I have short-ish dark brown hair and blue eyes. I have a big nose with freckles over it. I have one half brother and no sisters. I have a red bike. I like to play sport but I like playing music more. Who am i?
